Ueda was an easy victor in the territorial war that followed, in which both of Yagami's son's were killed. The Tokugawa-kai were now headed by a nephew whom Ueda perceived as being weak and indecisive. Almost every week more men left the Tokugawa and came to join his group, which had a reputation for being as lucrative as it was ruthless. The problem, of course, was that some of his new business areas, such as contract killing and kidnapping, had risks commensurate with their high fees. When something went wrong, as had just happened, fixing it became expensive. Fortunately, Ueda had not yet discovered a situation which could not be "adjusted", one way or another. But he was greedy and hated parting with his hard-earned money. That was why it was necessary that some person or persons pay for this mistake. Ueda picked up the phone. |
