Michiko felt like her legs could no longer support her and that she was going to vomit. Seeing her friend turn pale and sway, Lori took hold of her arm.

"Oh shit. Michiko, are you all right? Better sit down."

Lori looked over her shoulder at the detective as she guided Michiko to a chair.

"You can come in, okay?"

In a small voice, Michiko told the detective that her uncle had not come home last night.

"We just phoned the police and the hospitals."

"I hate to ask, but could you or your aunt come and see if you can identify the body?"

Michiko put her hand on Lori's arm.

"It is better if I go. Would you mind coming with me?"

Sure, Michiko. You can count on me."

Lori tried to sound more confident than she felt.

Michiko looked up at the detective.

"Okay, but I can't leave until there's someone to stay with my aunt."
